Support Myriad Botanical Gardens – A New Era for Downtown Oklahoma City
In 2011, after several years of careful planning and construction, Oklahoma City was given an extraordinary gift of a beautifully redesigned Myriad Botanical Gardens largely funded through a tax increment finance (TIF) district created when Devon began construction of its tower on the north side of the gardens. Larry Nichols, CEO of Devon Energy wanted to use these funds to improve downtown, the Myriad Gardens in particular.

That same year, another important change took place at the Gardens. The responsibility for managing and operating the Myriad Botanical Gardens was transferred from the Oklahoma City’s Parks and Recreation Department to the Myriad Gardens Foundation, a 501(c)3non-profit organization.As a result, the Foundation must now raise significant funds to ensure it can maintain all of the grounds, facilities, operations and staffing at the highest level.Funds are also needed to deliver dozens of new year-round educational and recreational programs and exhibits for all ages. Several recent additionsinclude:a children’s garden with unique play areas and a growing garden, a dog-release park, a grand event lawn with band shell and an interactive children’s fountain.

Whether it’s taking your dog for a walk, bringing your family to the Children’s Garden, reading a book or having a picnic in the park, attending a jazz concert or theater production at the Water Stage, getting married at the Crystal Bridge or flying a kite in the Oklahoma winds— more people than ever are enjoying the space!
